lace yourself

I spotted Selena also at the Levo Launch Party. She stood out in a crowd of business basics in a lace printed metallic top paired with well fitted black pants and flats. Lace can easily look dated or “old” (and just plain difficult to wear as it can get caught or ruined) but her top only gave the illusion of lace keeping the look young,…

(fashion) Mentor

Finding a mentor, let alone someone to look up to is tough. It also happens to be advice for the workplace I repeatedly hear or read  in all the lectures, presentations, articles, etc I come across or attend. As a millennial I’m very selective (almost too picky) and I also find it increasingly difficult to find someone I’d like to model myself after especially as my path…

black and blue

As I mentioned, I met some lovely ladies at the Levo Launch Party. What’s great about doing business is that you can do great work and look good while doing it.  In fact, these days, that’s what sets you apart from everyone else just doing their job. Looking good can even make you do better work!  Starting today, I’ll be introducing some ladies I met that…

Donna Karan.

After Sarah Robb O’Hagan’s morning keynote, I attended three workshops then lunch was served. At the table I met another group of fellow students/young professionals but I was really looking forward to what was to follow.

SRO 4.0

Sarah Robb O’Hagan is now 40 years old-hence SRO 4.0- but instead of me having to apologize for mentioning that-number-we-do-not-speak-of (age), I will share with you her great achievements and advice. For those who don’t know her, she is: “Former President of Gatorade. Incoming President of Equinox. Wife and Mum of team Robb O’Hagan. Proud Kiwi American. Energized by my kids, inspired by my work.” (taken…

Levo

It was pouring (still) when my friend and I got to John Hancock Tower in Boston for the Women In Business and Make it Happen Magazine Kickoff Party (9/28/12). This was a small get together with just a fraction of the attendees before the actual convention. Here, I was able to meet some lovely ladies/peers (details in upcoming posts-stay tuned). It was amazing to see so many…

So it begins.

The next couple of posts are dedicated to the trip I made to Boston last weekend  (September 28-30) for a business convention and a few other events. The weekend started off cloudy and rainy (the opposite of what I was hoping for) Friday morning . I was still determined to get a box of macarons for someone I was going to be seeing during my…

TILWIT- the beginning

I’ve been seeing a lot of “Things I wish I knew when I was 20 Something” or “Things I learned in my 20’s” articles floating around the internet rcently. This post is the beginning of the TILWIT series: Things I’m Learning While I’m Twenty-something. 21 to be exact. I once met a lovely woman while I was volunteering 7 months ago in the city. She…

Things I love (yes, love)

(Not in particular order of course) Macarons. More often than not, I am buying them for other people. In fact, the first time I ever bought them was for someone else. Once I finally got some for myself I was hooked. Not only are they pretty, they are colorful and just the right amount of sweet for me.
