Building a business (fashionable) wardrobe on budget

Building a work wardrobe on a budget is difficult, especially as a millennial-I should know! You want to develop a style that is professional but you also need to be mindful of where you work and where you are going. Sometimes you even have to think about who you are meeting!

As a millennial:

1) I change jobs sooner and more often than previous generations, meaning dress codes change and my clothes need to be appropriate for various occasions/environments.

2) I want to be professional but still show personality

3) I need clothes that go from day to night, from work to play. Simply put, I need clothes that can keep up with me.

My general rule of thumb is to look presentable and put together. This means wearing simple make up, clothes that fit and colors that flatter me. All of this needs to be within budget. Since my style is always subject to change, I’d prefer to save money where I can, and spend when necessary.

Luckily I found a brand that will be my saving grace as I start to get settled and start my post-grad professional career and the best part? They specialize in dresses, which I find to be the best and easiest option for professional/work clothes!

I had the pleasure of visiting the Taylor Dress showroom to take a look at the current and upcoming collection. I spotted a lot that I liked, and they are so versatile and easy to wear, it’s almost like getting two (or three) dresses in one!

There’s just something beautiful and lovely about a dress, don’t you agree?

In a dress, women can feel gorgeous, feminine and completely put together–all at the same time. You can wear a dress to the office, out on date night, or to special occasion events, like weddings and graduations. These are the type of dresses that every woman should have in her closet because it can be worn in so many places for so many different reasons. Pair it with heels and a cardigan for an office- appropriate look… Then slip off the cardigan and add a dash of sparkle for an evening look. If you have a job or interview where you want to make a good first impression, a dress is a nice way to make the statement you need.

Here are my top Taylor Dresses for the upcoming season, great to wear with tights or once it gets warm enough to show off your stems! Click the images for details.

You can never go wrong with black and white.

Navy is easy and safe to wear. The sheer detailing adds an understated sexiness!

Some color to welcome spring! I’m a huge fan of long sleeve dresses. Incredibly chic and easy to wear. Also great if you get self conscious about your arms like I do!

I’ve worn two of the Taylor dresses I have already… Maybe you’ve already seen it on my instagram! Each time I wear it, I get so many compliments. Stay tuned for posts about that. 🙂

These are just a few of many classic dresses that can be worn in business and life!
