I’ve been thinking a lot about 2016 and the things I want to improve on this year. They’re not resolutions, rather, they’re things I’ve been working on for years now but hope to really solidify into my habits with renewed focus and commitment this year.
Within my theme of Focus and Discipline, in 2016 I’d really like to focus on Creativity. I was listening to this podcast with two of my favorite authors/thinkers Brene Brown and Elizabeth Gilbert and it was exactly what I needed to be reminded of: Creativity is essential for healthy and wholehearted living.
Brene Brown defines creativity “as the way I share my soul with the world.” She believes that “the only unique contribution that we will make in this world will be born of creativity.“
I so believe that too.
So this year, I will aim to do things with such focus and discipline that the fear of not being good enough at writing (among other fears) won’t even be a concern. I will do it so often that it becomes a natural part of my life.
- This year I will be kinder and more patient with myself.
- This year I will write, write, write. I have an overactive mind and wish to calm it. So I’ll be making use of this blog. If you don’t want to read it, then you are more than welcome to exit out anytime, but my hope is that you’ll read and something will resonate with you.
- Reach a even more heightened level of emotional and mental fitness. Keep my life simple so that I can work on mastering my emotions and improve my “craft” with as little distraction as possible. Read a lot, learn from others, make mistakes.
I hope you’re ready for me to share my heart and world with you even more than before, because I am.
