Maybe it’s because gold is the color of success and achievement . It is also known to signify “abundance and prosperity, luxury and quality, prestige and sophistication, value and elegance” (source), but really I like gold because adding a touch of gold is the easiest way for me to dress appropriately for anything from a social/professional event to an it-could-be-but-I’m-not-sure-“date”. Gold injects a youthful and dressy feel into a serious silhouette and makes an outfit go easily from day to night.
My go-to outfit is this metallic cap sleeve form fitting dress with oodles of texture and interesting hemline. I also love it because it makes me feel like Rachel Zane from SUITS- understated sexy but still sophisticated. It also helps to stand out with a metallic sheen in a sea of black.
My Go-to dress paired with a blazer at the Levo League Launch Party:
Before a “date” during restaurant week!
I also wore it most recently to the Brunch at Bloomie’s for the Chinese New Year Celebration. They said to dress in “festive attire” but I couldn’t find anything red that was flattering on me (and I don’t own traditional Chinese dress), so voila, my go-to gold dress.
Add a splash of gold whether it be in an accessory or outfit and you’ll be sure to shine in whatever you do in business or life. Be sure to use your good judgment though, as you don’t want to look like you’re ready for a party when you actually mean business!
