As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of Anne Hathaway’s version of Catwoman. Although it wasn’t in the form of a leather skirt like I recommend here, I incorporated some leather into my outfit last night to channel my inner Selina Kyle.
Yesterday, I had plans to meet a group of young professionals for drinks before heading to a friend’s birthday party. I correctly assumed the first group would all be wearing business attire since they were coming from a company event. I wanted to wear something that would be versatile enough to move seamlessly from a business attire crowd to a birthday party crowd, so i kept it all black, sleek, slim with just the right amount of (understated) sexiness. Like Catwoman, I wanted to exude sprezzatura and sass. (I was actually told today that everyone I met last night thought I was quite spunky so I guess mission accomplished! 😛 ). The leather and crocheted lace detail is the perfect combination of texture to show the irresistible combination of strength and femininity great for a laidback/loungey night out in New York.
Top: Zara- got it on sale a few days ago for just $20!
Bandage Skirt: H&M
Booties: from some boutique in Korea… Basic black booties are a must have for any wardrobe in my opinion! They work for both day and night.
Try it yourself: Look for leather details whether it be in the side or front of a pant; or sleeve, collar or pockets on a shirt, jacket or coat.
Look at this post for some inspiration on how to wear a black leather skirt in business and life.
