I was on my way to a cafe in Lower East Side when I decided I’d take a roundabout route. I’m rarely in the neighborhood so I figured why not? You never know. It was definitely a grittier neighborhood than what I’m used to. The streets were uneven and cracked, dirty puddles were everywhere and the streets were empty, even for 10 AM in the morning.
As I walked, my eyes surveyed the storefronts and signs when at one point this caught my eye.
How cute are they!! Pouches with cheeky comments. Comments that were so sassy I could’ve written them myself 😛
Of course I had to go inside. When I did, I saw a whole wall of these pouches with various sayings.
I can imagine “New York is my boyfriend” being a huge hit. As I read each one, certain people came to mind. “My lipstick is redder than your lipstick” reminded me of one friend. “I LIVE TO EAT” reminded me of my foodie friend. I basically wanted them all!
I spoke to the girl in the store and it turns out that these Pamela Barsky pouches start at $16. Great for a gift, especially if you are getting a custom message (which I believe is an option). I can’t speak to how the customer service is because I didn’t end up buying one but had to share them with you. I liked them and thought you would too!
What would your bag say?
I think “Sure New York is difficult but then so am I” might be quite fitting for me or maybe the “I have to warn you I say what I think.” 😀
Take a look at her instagram for more possibilities! And of course, if you’re in the area, be sure to visit at 29 Essex Street (Between Hester and Grand) or in the artists and fleas pop up at Chelsea Market at 15th street and 10th Avenue.
